Amazon CPM Ads Review

Bloggers appear to be in love with Google AdSense (which is often accurately referred to as blogger wellfare), but there are many other ad networks out there you can take advantage of to monetize your blog. Amazon just released Amazon CPM Ads, and they are pretty impressive.
A while ago, I opted into what was then the forthcoming project called Amazon CPM Ads. I never heard anything from them afterwards, so I assumed my account didn’t qualify.
Months later, I noticed a new tab in my Associates Central dashboard while I was using Firefox (which I rarely use). This tab allowed me to create Amazon CPM Ads. I flipped back to Chrome and discovered to my surprise that the tab is not available in Chrome–indeed, even visiting the direct Amazon CPM Ads dashboard page using chrome redirects you to the Associate Central dashboard. I have no idea why, but Amazon is forbidding use of their CPM ads in Chrome.

amazon-cpm-ads

I quickly integrated some Amazon CPM ads into my beard website. They have been running for about three weeks now.

CPM

CPM stands for “cost per thousand impressions”. Amazon ads do not pay you per click. Instead, they pay you per 1,000 impressions. In this way, they are very much like CPM Only, which is another ad network I have worked with before.
I use many different ad serving platforms on my beard website, including SAY Media, Cox Digital Solutions, Sovrn, AdSense, CPM Only, and now Amazon CPM Ads. I have experimented with all of them to see which ones pay the most, To my surprise, Amazon CPM Ads pay very well. Top of the list, for my site, is Cox (with a CPM well over $2), and Amazon comes in a close second (right now my average CPM is $1.58).
I will write an article explaining how I use display ads on my site soon.

Backfill / Passback

Amazon CPM ads have an option to place “passback” ads, or backfill ads. This means that whenever Amazon cannot find an ad to show your website visitors, they will show them whatever you designate as “backfill”. I suggest using an image that advertises an Amazon product, complete with your affiliate ID tag. More on this later.

Limitations

Mobile

Amazon CPM ads do not work on mobile devices, so you’ll need to either use media queries to hide them when viewed from mobile devices, or use javascript to not even load them when viewed from a mobile device.

Ad Limit

You’re limited by the Amazon CPM Ads terms of service to serving 3 or fewer Amazon CPM Ads per page.
I initially tried having 5 per page, but I saw that many of them would not render. When I reduced the count to 3 per page, all of them rendered, and my fill percentage (the percentage of total impressions that served a paying ad, opposed to serving the backfill) increased.

Implementation Confusion

Once you create an ad, you are given two pieces of code to install on your page to render the ad. The first piece is called the “header only”, giving the impression that you should install it only in the header of your page. The second piece of code is the ad itself. The page tells you to place this where you want the ad to render.
These instructions are incorrect, and can really mess up your website. If you follow the directions, your ads will render, but a portion of them (the text link for each ad) will appear in the header of your page–effectively splitting your ad into two pieces.
Instead, just install the header blurb and the ad together where you want the add to appear, for each ad.

Responsive

These ads work strangely. My site is responsive (meaning it automatically adjusts itself to work on mobile devices), and for some reason, my Amazon CPM ads grow in size if positioned next to other ads, and overlaps them. So, for example, let’s say you put three ads in your sidebar, stacked on top of each other–AdSense, Amazon in the middle, and Cox last. The Amazon ad will grow in height from 300×250 to 300×600, completely overlapping your Cox ad.
To solve this, you must always place your Amazon ad last in the stack. If placed last, it will not grow outside the frame where it lives.

Interface

Unlike other ad serving solutions, Amazon keeps no record of your ad tag, once created. If you don’t copy and save your ad tag code, you lose it forever. You can always create a new ad, but you’ll never be able to find the old ad code you created.

Reports

Amazon CPM Ads have nice reporting. However, once it tracks an impression to one of your ads, it lists the ad in your reports forever. So, if, for example, you use an ad tag for a week, then delete it from your website and stop using it, that tag will forever appear in your reports. This can clutter up your reporting.
Additionally, the reporting function is limited in that it only shows you Today (which is useless), Last 7 Days, and Last 30 Days. I know this tool is in its infancy, but they need to work on their analytics presentation. It should default to Yesterday, and then give you the option to choose a custom date range.

No Commissions

If you are an Amazon affiliate, you are used to promoting amazon items on your website and getting a small percentage of a sale. But with Amazon CPM Ads, you do not get a commission. Instead, you get paid for every 1,000 impressions. This is totally fair, but kind of disappointing.

Tips & Tricks

Amazon CPM Ads will serve your visitors with ads tailored to their browsing patterns. So, you will see over time that your ads will start to promote products more in-line with your website topic, and the interests of your readers
This is a great way to see what Amazon thinks your users are interested in, and also where Amazon thinks your users should go on Amazon.com. If you are an Amazon affiliate member, you can use this information to make powerful affiliate marketing ads.
Here’s how it works. Let your ads run for a week. Then visit your website and see which ads Amazon is showing your visitors.
Take screenshots of the ads. Then, click the ad to see where Amazon sends your visitors. The page you arrive on will be the destination page for your ad. Click the “link to this page” link in the top left-hand corner of the page, to get an affiliate link for this landing page.

Then, create linking images on your website using the screenshot of the amazon ad, linking to the ad destination page with your affiliate link. This gives you a powerful, high-converting image link, tested by Amazon’s billion-dollar marketing department, and you get a commission for every product your visitor buys. Normally, Amazon does not give you affiliate commissions for their CPM ads.
You can place these linking images anywhere on your website, or even use them as backfill ads for your Amazon CPM ads. This way, you get ad revenue, and also the possibility of affiliate commissions when there are no ads to render.
You can also use this technique for other ad services. My favorite is Facebook ads. Alter the screenshot you took of the Amazon ad to fit Facebook’s sidebar. Then, link to the same Amazon.com landing page using your affiliate link. Use Facebook’s amazing targeting system to show your ads only to people on Facebook who are interested in your niche. If Amazon is paying you to serve ads to that location, then there’s a good chance you’ll make money doing the exact same thing, on Facebook.

How to Install Amazon CPM Ads

Visit Amazon CPM Display Ads Home while signed into your Amazon Associate account. (Remember to not use Google Chrome! It works in Firefox, but I have not tested other browsers.)
Click “Create Ad Code” in the upper right-hand corner.

create-amazon-ad-codeComplete the ad creation form below and click “create ad code”.
create-ad
Name: This name does not show on your website (it is hidden in the code), but it does appear in your analytics. Come up with an ad naming formula and stick with it for all your Amazon ads to avoid confusion later.
Ad Size: Choose from among 4 standard ad sizes. Protip: My experiments show that 300×250 converts FAR better than any other ad size. The only possible exception is 728×90. This converts better if it is placed at the top of your website, or the very bottom of an article. Avoid the 300×600 if you can. These have abysmal performance, even though they are bigger.
Target CPM: If you use other ad services, like Google AdSense or Sovrn, you need to see how well they are performing and then type the CPM of those ads here. Thus, if you place, say, a Sovrn ad as backfill to your Amazon ad, then Amazon will only show an Amazon ad if the ad can beat the Target CPM you record here. If it can’t beat the target CPM, it will show your backfill ad.
If you don’t want to list a Target CPM, set it to $0.00.
Passback Ad Code: This is your backfill space. Place another ad tag code here, or place simple linking image HTML here, or leave it blank.
Track CPM Ads using your analytics provider: If you are using Google Analytics, or some other analytics software, you can create a goal tracking pixel and place it in this slot. Your ad impressions and clicks will show up in your analytics.
Once you click “create ad code”, a new box flies open containing your code. It looks like this:

amazon-ad-code
Ignore the text that says “header only”. You need to highlight and copy ALL of this code, and enter it exactly where you want your ad to appear. For each ad you use.
Install it to your website, and you’re good to go!
After a day or so, check back. You’ll see that some data has appeared.
analytics
Click to see a full-sized image.
Notice that many unused ads (the ones with text in red) still appear. These are ads I deleted weeks ago. They probably still get impressions due to caching issues.
Anyway, Amazon CPM Ads are pretty compelling, especially for existing Amazon affiliates. A great new item in your arsenal.
Happy blogging!

Adsoptimal Review

Adsoptimal is one of the leading advertising networks in the world. The ad network was formed back in the October of 2012 in the city of San Francisco, California. The strength of Adsoptimal has been its high CPM rates and it offers a major source of revenue to both publishers and bloggers who are willing to lend their website’s ad spaces to advertisers to market their brand.

1

The ad network has a long list of partners that it has worked with to make sure it is able to offer its customers the optimum performance that they deserve. Some of the partners that are able to help them include advertising giants like Media LifeStreet, Double Click by Google, Google’s AdSense, and Criteo. One of the things that has made this ad network a popular one is the fact that over a hundred thousand sites are already using the ad network and more are following. Packed with high end technology to help customers thrive, the ad network offers its customers the best in customer support.
The reason for the best customer support representatives being involved with the ad network is to make sure that the publishers and advertisers are able to solve problems that they face using the network. Here is a look at some of the features that Adsoptimal has to offer to advertisers and publishers alike:
  • A wide variety of virtual reality advertising opportunities in addition to other more traditional ad formats.
  • 10% commissions simply on referrals for up to a year
  • Specially optimized and designed system for work on mobile phones
  • Minimum payment balance of $50 only.
  • Signup bonuses worth $15-$10 based on the quality of the website and the number of visitors that are involved.
  • No requirement for minimum traffic for publishers and website owners to become a part of the advertising network.
  • No use of Malicious advertisements

Adsoptimal Rates

In terms of payment, Adsoptimal is surprisingly liberal. It has a multilayered payment system which not only cater to the needs of the publishers who are providing an ad space for the advertisement to be displayed, it also offers website owners money on joining the ad network, on referrals, etc. In terms of the CPM rates being offered to publishers, they are one of the highest in the current market. This is largely due to the fact that Adsoptimal rates are drafted keeping in mind the importance of the publishers.
As far as the rates by the ad network for its services are concerned, they are nominal. The rates being charged by Adsoptimal for providing publishers and advertisers a platform, giving them latest technology to work on and a chance to increase their brand value is justifiable. This is primarily because it is proportionate to the services that are being offered by the ad network. For example: in terms of customer support, it has dedicated staff to help publishers and advertisers understand the functioning of the system better.

Adsoptimal Ad Types

Like most ad networks which are older and more experienced than Adsoptimal, it is clear to the professionals behind the ad network that the need for a variety of ads is important to flourish in the industry. Some of the largest ad networks need to be able to offer publishers and advertisers different ad campaigns so that they are able to choose the right one that fits their need.
Adsoptimal understands the importance of ad types and therefore the networks offer its customers a wide variety of ads. Here is a look at the current offers in Adsoptimal ad types:
  • Display Ads
  • Page Level Ads
  • Inline Ads
  • Small Leader board Ads
  • Leader board Ads
  • Medium rectangle Ads
  • Wilde Skyscraper Ads

Adsoptimal vs AdSense

An Adsoptimal vs AdSense comparison is unfair in some respects, mainly because the two ad networks have been able to work in combination with one another for a long time. Irrespective of that, both are ad networks and both want to be the leading ad network in the market. In terms of AdSense that is already the case. Google’s ad network is the largest network in terms of its size and even with over a hundred thousand websites using it, Adsoptimal is dwarfed in comparison to the former.
In terms of the rates being charged, both ad networks are able to justify the expenses being charged by providing optimum service and state of the art technology. While AdSense does charge a lower rate as compared to Adsoptimal, both of them are able to offer high quality services and control to advertisers and publishers.
In terms of customer support, the two ad networks are close to one another. While both ad networks are able to hire competent staff to deal with requests of advertisers and publishers, AdSense just edges out from the other ad networks primarily down to the sheer size of its investment in customer support. All in all, Adsoptimal is a good ad network which may not be the replacement to AdSense but can well be replacement to it for people looking to try out newer markets and different approaches of advertising.

Adsoptimal Review, Rates, Overall

Having taken a look at Adsoptimal review, rates, overall it is clear that the ad network which was only established a few years ago has experienced exponential growth. This growth can be attributed to a number of different factors, narrowing down to the fact that it has been revered ever since its entry in the market as one of the best CPM Ad Networks. Finally, this ad network for all of its potential deserves a chance from both publishers and advertisers.
One of the calling cards of the ad network is the fact that it does not discriminate in between websites based on their traffic, allowing publishers of all websites and blogs to be a part of the ad network irrespective of their online standing in the market. This ad network is a good choice for website owners who are unable to get into Google AdSense’s Ad network.

Propellerads – $300 per day with viral traffic

Several months ago I wrote an article on how to make $200 per day with Viral websites. If you want to know how to add $300 per day more with Propellerads then this article is for you. When I wrote that article more than a year ago I di

dn’t expect it to go “viral”. A lot of people contacted me in 2015 to learn more about how everything works or simply because they’re putting some work and wanted some feedback on the results they’re achieving.
With over 600 comments it’s one of the top 5 articles on my blog and I know the reason behind it is the “simplicity” of the game.
But as many of you can see, creating a viral website isn’t that easy. In fact, from over 600 comments I have in that article maybe just a couple dozens of them are from people telling me that they started their viral website and made it work. Some of them make $50 per day, and some of them are making more than $500 per day. The rest is just people asking questions or commenting about how good it looks but they don’t have the money to do it, etc.
So first let me explain what this article is going to be about:
  1. I’m going to explain what you need in Facebook to go viral, WITH REAL NUMBERS, not the shitty articles that tell you go viral by creating something people love and that stuff that everybody knows but nobody knows how to put to use.
  2. I’m going to explain what you need in Adsense to make money as it’s not that easy. It’s a math game and all relies in the numbers
  3. I tried different methods and found that you can generate some extra income with popunder ads from networks like Propellerads using your viral website. This will be the final part of the post.
  4. I’m going to show you a few tests I made and the earnings with PropellerAds
That’s it. As always I’m going to try to keep it short, but you know I normally write 2,000 words per article so make sure you grab a cup of coffee before you continue reading.

Facebook Ads and going viral

OK so as mentioned, this is a numbers game and Facebook is the main traffic source to tackle if you want to go viral with clickbait news and stuff. I already mentioned how I do it basically in the former article, however a lot of people email me or comment asking for questions like:
  • Is my CPC too high?
  • Which countries should I target?
  • What do you put in your interests when targeting people?
  • I’m making money but I spend more than I earn with Adsense
Those are the main questions I think I’ve received in the last 6 months and I’m going to answer them all so you can understand the theory behind going viral on Facebook and making money.
This is the first part of the equation and your target here is to get as many visits as possible with a low budget. Remember we are using Facebook ads, so you need to invest money to make money and you’ve got to have some decent budget to test A LOT of campaigns.
What is a Facebook Ads campaign?
In this case, a campaign would be the news/article you’re promoting, but keep in mind the price of the visitors could change a lot if you change your headline and image to something more compelling.
So the first step is to have a blog and start posting some news in the form of viral articles as explained before. That should be clear by now. But how do you make it viral?
Well, as surprising as this might sound, most of your articles won’t go viral. AND THAT’S FINE. It’s something you have to accept because you’re not the best copy writer in the world and you might not be expert at marketing either.
The thing is you need to test a load of campaigns and news until you find the golden ones. Sometimes it takes you 10 articles to find a golden nugget. Sometimes it could take you 30 or 50 until you find one.
Again, don’t worry. It’s normal to fail a lot of campaigns until you find the best one and scale it. Not even the best marketers in the world can make every product or campaign go pro no matter how good they are. However, you need to consider that if you’re going to test a lot of articles and fire campaigns on Facebook Ads, you need a budget.
How much do I need to get started?
Something a lot of my readers told me is why do they need $1,500 per month to get stared?
They just have $100 bucks and they want to know why they won’t make it.
The truth is they COULD make it, but most probably they won’t. Here’s the math behind it.
Let’s say this is your first time doing viral websites and you’ve got a small idea of how everything works. You write 5 articles every single day of the week and every 20 articles on average you find a good one that goes viral.
5 articles per day becomes 35 per week and 150 per month.
You create a campaign on Facebook ads for each article and pump $5 bucks to test it before deciding if it’s good or not.
  • That’s $5 x 150 = $750 USD in just a month.
Now, if you write more articles or if you decide to test with a higher budget or with different images/headlines you’ll need more money, so it could easily become $1k per month or even $2k per month just in tests.
If you have $100 bucks to get started you’ll try a few articles and before the week ends you’ll burn your money without any success and you’ll move to the next shinny thing you find in the warrior forum. But let’s say you get lucky and find a campaign with those $100 and from 10 campaigns you launch 1 of them goes viral.
Now you need money to scale the campaigns and make a lot of money, but you don’t have it and Google Adsense won’t pay you until the end of next month… By the time you receive the payment your campaign will be long dead and the initial momentum you gained will be lost in space.
Now that I’ve explained the basics behind the budget you need to enter this business let’s analyze how your campaigns can go viral by answering the most common questions mentioned above:
  1. Go broad and pick up a country. It doesn’t matter which country it is. Facebook has a ton of traffic from every part of the world so just pick up a country where you know the language and maybe the slang and things that are viral at this moment. You can use Google trends to do some research.
  2. You’re going to write viral articles that appeal broad audiences, so initially you don’t need to worry about the gender or the ages of people you’re targeting on Facebook. Later you can go back and check your Facebook reports to see what’s working better. Initially just gather data.
  3. You don’t need to target specific interests because you’re going broad. Don’t try targeting people who already liked other big viral websites or meme websites because they might have already seen the article you’ve written somewhere else or they are used to those kind of ads in their newsfeed.
Finally, let’s get technical and do the math so you can understand how to make more money than you’re spending.

Facebook Ads by the numbers

I’ll make it simple with an example:
Let’s say you’re running a campaign in France and your average Adsense CPC is worth $0.25.
Initially you start a Facebook campaign (Clicks to website should be your objective) and your average CPC is 0.05 with an average CTR on your banner of 1%.
What do you need to be profitable in this case? Do the math… I’ll wait…
OK so if you earn 25 cents from every click on your Adsense banners and every click from Facebook ads to your website costs 5 cents it means you need at least 1 click in your Adsense banners every 5 visitors just to break even. Right?
So if you need 1 click every 5 visitors it means you need an Adsense CTR of 20%.
Are you going to make money here? I don’t think so… Who gets a CTR of 20% when the average Adsense CTR is usually 1-2%? maybe 5%?
Now let’s image this example:
You’re running the same campaign in France and let’s say your average Adsense CPC is $0.3. You start a Facebook
campaign and with a great image and headline you increase the CTR of your Facebook banner to 5%. This results into a CPC of $0.01 which is 5 times lower than it was before.
What kind of CTR would you need in your website to make money? I’ll help you with the math again.
If you get paid 30 cents per each click in your Adsense banners and you’re paying 1 cent per visitor from Facebook, then you need at least 1 click to your Adsense banner every 30 visits to break even. Anything higher than that and you’d be profitable!
1 click every 30 visitors means you need an Adsense CTR of 3.3%. Is that possible to achieve? for sure!
So, in conclusion, what you need to make money with viral traffic is to get your clicks from Facebook as cheap as possible and to increase your Adsense CTR as much as possible to earn more money per visitor. The second question is, how do I do that?

The key behind cheap FB clicks

What you need here is to split test a lot of images and headlines until you find the best ones. If you’re not sure how to tackle this go to your Facebook account and like all the Facebook Fan pages related to viral websites until you understand the style behind them.
I already mentioned that writing a lot of articles and launching campaigns is they key behind this business, but trust me, the same article can perform a lot better just by tweaking the headline and the image. One image could have a mediocre CTR (les than 2% CTR on Facebook Ads) while a good image could have a wonderful CTR (4% and above) and that will lower your CPC costs a lot. That’s simply the key behind Facebook ads and cheap clicks.
Bonus: You can also use retargeting and custom audiences once you start getting traffic in your website to launch campaigns that will perform a lot better (extra ROI) because you know those people already visited your website. Also, don’t forget to check the Facebook Ads report in your ad manager to see which genders and ages are clicking your ad more so you can create ads for them and lower the CPC.

The key behind a great Adsense CTR

You need to split test several themes and positions. Do the math and discover what kind of CTR do you need to be profitable as we did in the examples above and start testing like crazy until you find the best combination. You can split test themes (with WordPress this is quite easy), split test colors, positions of banners, colors of banners, banner sizes and more. Make sure you split test as much as you can until you find the best combination for your traffic.
Here’s a simple test that can increase your CTR by 1-2% just by making a small change:

Once you start launching several campaigns and measuring all your statistics you’ll know how everything works and fell more comfortable spending money. You need to get out of your comfort zone and make it work. Otherwise you’ll never make it in this industry.

PropellerAds and viral traffic

Finally, let’s talk about adding some extra ROI to your earnings by using PropellerAds.
If this is the first time you’ve heard about PropellerAds, they are one of the largest networks and most of their ads are shown on a popunder (onclick ads, as they call them) format.
What is a popunder ad? Well, you know… the type of ad that pops in another window behind your original website. It looks something like this:

PropellerAds Media PopUnder
Yes, these are the same ads that most people hate and some of then assure pop under and pop up ads are dead but they can’t be more wrong. Pop Ads work wonderfully although I accept they’re very intrusive and sometimes I just hate to see them. But that doesn’t mean they don’t work.
Anyways, the real reason you’re here is because you want to know how to make extra money and see how I earned $300 extra per day, so here it goes.
First thing you need to do is to understand how to install and show PropellerAds in your website. I wrote a guide and a small review about them a few months ago, so make sure you check it out and come back when you’re done.
Back in September 2015 I started doing tests with a small viral website without Google Adsense just to see if I could earn any decent money with PropellerAds and my (already big) Facebook Fan pages. Here’s what I quickly achieved:

PropellerAds viral traffic small niche
As you can see, I quickly noticed PropellerAds had some potential but the first I wanted to try it with a small website and decided to do the test just with my organic traffic from the Fan Pages I had grown in the past with my viral websites.
Some days I made $30 and some days the CPM (cost per thousand visits) was better so I made more than $70 per day with a CPM of $5.
My next step was to test the strategy with my biggest Fan Pages so I could make my $200 per day with Adsense plus whatever I could achieve as an extra with PropellerAds to increase my earnings and overall my ROI on my Facebook campaigns.
Here’s what I achieved back in September:

PropellerAds viral traffic $300 per day
As you can see, I was earning pretty much the same with PropellerAds compared to Google Adsense, so I decided to contact my manager at PropellerAds and ask them if there was a problem if I used PropellerAds at the same time with Adsense.
My manager told me there was no problem and Google shouldn’t have problems either, however, they told me to be careful with Facebook because they don’t like pop ads when you’re running traffic through Facebook Ads.

WARNING, YOUR FACEBOOK ADS ACCOUNT COULD BE BANNED

If you don’t follow the steps below closely your FB ads account could be banned. There, I said it. So please read below to see my strategy before trying anything.
So I decided to check out Facebook Ads Terms and Conditions and yes, they don’t allow pop ups or pop unders on the destination of the ads. They don’t have problems with organic traffic (A.K.A. Fan Pages without Ads) though. So what I decided to do in order to use both Google Adsense and PropellerAds was to create an specific page with Adsense banners only for the articles that I promoted via Facebook Ads, and then clone the same article and put both Adsense and PropellerAds and use that specific link to promote it to my Fans without paying for Ads (organic traffic just by posting the links in my
Fan Pages).
So in conclusion:
  1. While you’re searching for your golden nuggets to go viral using Facebook ads make sure you’re using the URL of your article with Google Adsense banners only
  2. For all of the article
  1. s that you promote to your fans organically (no Ads) use the URL where you have both Adsense and PropellerAds
What was the final result?
At the end of September and during October I was making $500 per day overall with my viral websites. Around $150-200 from PropellerAds and $300-350 from Google Adsense. Quite a nice bump in earnings just by adding a second ad network to the equation, isn’t it?
AGAIN, make sure you don’t use the URLs with PropellerAds when promoting via Facebook Ads or your account could be banned. DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU!
Anyways, even if you don’t have an Adsense account, you can still make good money with Propeller Ads and viral traffic, the only bummer there would be that all your FB Ads would need to be focused on getting likes to your fan Page instead of website clicks and then you can promote your viral website with PropellerAds organically to your fans.
Since November 2015 I have been split testing a lot of PopUnder ad networks like the ones mentioned here and found a few ones that sometimes perform better than PropellerAds. But as always, you need to split test the networks because what works for me could not work for you as there are many factors to count in like country of the visitor, operating systems, devices, etc. One of the best ones I tried was Pop Ads but overall PropellerAds has been more solid for this kind of traffic.

Conclusions

There you have it.
That’s how I added $300 per day with PropellerAds and viral traffic and overall how you can make more than $500 per day just with viral websites.
As always, remember to put this to test and never forget to split test everything until you find the best combination for your website/traffic. Don’t quit if you launch 3 campaigns and fail. That’s pretty common but the ones that persist are the ones who dominate it and make it big.
Finally, if you want to read more posts like this where I explain everything with numbers and step by step please don’t forget to share this post and leave a comment below. If you’re already running viral websites, I’d love to hear your feedback and know what’s working for you.
Talk to you later this week!

10 Ways to Increase AdSense CPC With Simple Tweaks

If you are a Blogger and Adsense is your prime source of revenue, you can’t afford to ignore the importance of Adsense optimization. When we talk about Adsense optimization, there are many things, but the main target is to get high eCPM and get more Cost per click. Else, despite of good AdSense CTR, you might not be making good money. This is something familiar about the non-English blog. If you fall in the category of those AdSense publishers, who are getting huge traffic but Adsense earning is still low, it’s time to understand points which are mentioned below, and this will surely help to increase Adsense CPC and overall revenue.

What is AdSense CPC:

Let’s start with answering basic question first and then we will move to some working tips to increase AdSense CPC. CPC stands for Cost per click, in short money which you make/click is what CPC. Now, you might have noticed Adsense publisher talking more about CTR and less about CPC. If you are really serious about your Adsense revenue, you should, work more on CPC than CTR. Getting thousands impression on your ad won’t be of much help but a blog with good CPC with decent CTR can create a huge difference.

CPC has nothing to do directly with your traffic, if you would realize and noticed micro-niche blogs, you might have realized despite of less traffic such sites make more money from Adsense. Reason is simple and that is eCPM for such blogs are so high that you get paid really well for CPC and then there are other factors like Ad competition, Keywords and many more.

Factors that Affect Adsense CPC :

First thing first, choosing a right niche for your blog or website is of utmost important. Cost Per Click or CPC of an ad directly depends upon the topic on which you’re writing your blog.Well! Let me clarify one thing here that you’re going to choose niche however there are niches that can pay you high CPC. Yes! Here is the list of niches that can give you high return, I have arranged them in decreasing order of CPC.
  • Domains – Blogs on Internet Domains Like GoDaddy, Namecheap etc. It pays highest CPC.
  • Gadgets – Tech Gadgets like Apple products
  • Google – Google Products
  • Microsoft – MS Office
  • Banking
  • Automobile
  • Health
  • Real Estate
  • Home Loans
  • Jobs
  • Dating & Romance – It pays lowest CPC.
Second thing is the content, you must write content that should answer readers query. So before writing blogs try to find what your readers are searching on the Internet and then try to present them with solutions.
Remember you should always directly engage with your readers. Your content must be tailored according to your niche so that more and more readers can read your blogs. Hence good content will certainly ensure higher Adsense CPC rates. Moreover, Good content is what search engine loves, hence more click and more revenue if your ad is highly targeted and your traffic is from the countries like U.S.A, U.K. When you do a Keyword research, make sure to use Approximate CPC column.
Read:

Allow block ads:
In Google Adsense you will find Allow block ads. You can go there and see yourself how much each ad category is paying you. This will show you different ads category that are showing on your website. If you find that any ad category is not paying much then feel free to block that category.
Block ads on AdSense

Try to block those categories which are completely irrelevant to the content or niche of your blog. Suppose blog is about Technology then block the ad categories for Dating, Politics, Religion etc. This will surely increase your AdSense CPC.

Your blogs are read from different platforms like desktop, laptop, mobile etc. Although CPC is generally not much affected by the platforms on which ads are shown but you should try your best to target as many as readers. You will get most of the readers from desktop and laptop devices.
If you are able to reach to hand-held or mobile readers than CPC may increase as ads shown on cellphones are of higher quality. If you are blogging on WordPress platform, you can use any of these plugins to make your blog mobile friendly, and you serve AdSense ads which are optimized for mobile screen size.

One of the most important factor that can increase CPC is the country you are targeting. For example a click on an ad from USA can pay you up to $2 to $3 and click on same ad from India can end up paying only 20 to 30 cents.
Hence, always tailor your blog and its content to audiences in English-speaking countries. It will also increase Page Rank of your website. So always keep in mind the country you are targeting.

Perhaps I should have explained this suggestion in the beginning of the blog. Anyhow, you must know to choose right format for your ad. If you can place three ads on a page then choose two 336 X 280 ads and one 468 X 60 ad.
Then ad format must be text because text ads have higher CTR (click through rate). You can even try ad format for both text & image simultaneously as it gives you more CPC. Image ads are usually less preferred for both reasons less CTR and lower CPC. Though at times, depending upon the niche and blog type, image ads perform better in terms of higher CTR but CPC won’t be as good as text ads. Anyways, as I mentioned above it differs from niche type and most important ad placement.

Never neglect the placement of your ads on the web page as it is directly proportional to your Adsense revenue. So where to place ads for maximum CPC? Answer is simple. Place 2 ads inside your blog post and 1 outside the post.As far as placing inside goes then place one 336 X 280 rectangle ad on the top of the blog just below the title and place second 468 X 60 ad in between the blog post. Remaining one ad you can place on your right side that is outside your post.
Though it should be your choice and depending upon your reason of blogging. For example, if you are a professional blogger and dependent on Adsense, you should not miss a chance to optimize ad and use maximum possible ad units on a single page. Though if you are a hobby blogger or blogging on personal blog, your first target should be giving quality content and less ads, as readers hate advertisement which distract them from reading.

Always keep trying something new. Experimenting can really pay you high dividends. You can try out for different niches, choose different ad placements and finally take as many as advice from Google Adsense center. Never bogged down into one style always try something new.

In conclusion I would only say if you follow and implement these 10 tips then you can surely increase your AdSense revenue from 30% to 40%. It is completely legal and genuine way to increase your earning in short time. You can also search for highest CPC AdSense Keywords and compile one-two posts around it.

Make Money Writing Articles: 37 Blogs That Pay Up To $300 For Your Guest Posts

Freelance blogging is a great way to make money writing online because there is immense demand for awesome blog posts, always! But that doesn’t make it easy! The problem is… finding high-paying freelance writing jobs will take time and loads of efforts, especially if you’re a newbie.

In fact, if you visit any of those freelance marketplaces or job sites, you can see that it’s crowded with hundreds of thousands of writers/bloggers. And if you don’t have an author profile or pricing that is not  attractive enough then your would be clients can easily find a dozen of other writers.
Another problem is, content agencies or clients on freelance sites do not pay much. Even if you meet their criteria you may not earn more than $10-$15 per 500 words (unless you are a native English speaker).

Make Money Writing — As A Freelance Blogger

First things first. Let me differentiate three terms: freelance blogger, guest blogger, and content marketer. A freelance blogger is someone who is paid for writing blog posts for his clients (can be individuals or companies).
Guest blogger is someone who writes a blog post and gets it published on another person’s website. He can be paid for it or is usually done for free — in exchange for a credit, in the form of a backlink at the end of his guest post.
Guest blogging can be done for clients as well. It means that a client will pay a guest blogger for writing about his business on another website. And a content marketer is someone who writes content to attract targeted traffic to his website.
For example, I’m not a freelance blogger or a guest blogger as I haven’t written any guest posts on another blog, yet. And I personally do not write for clients either. But I can be called a content marketer as I’m writing blog posts that is attracting targeted traffic.
I have already listed over 51 freelance writing gigs (plus 25 freelance writing tips) few days back. And it was a comprehensive list of freelance marketplaces, content agencies (I haven’t included any of them here), and other websites that are hiring freelance bloggers and writers.
But like I have already mentioned, the problem is… most of the websites that are listed on that blog post are big media companies and their acceptance rate and payment rate is on the low side. Also, a good percentage of them accepts only native English writers.
So, if you are a freelance writer who want to make money writing but is tired of low-paying writing gigs, then here is a collection of websites that are paying up to $300 (or sometimes more) for your articles and blog posts. In other words, you get paid when you contribute content to the following websites and blogs.
Note: The idea of this entire blog post is to show you that there are a ton of websites out there willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a single blog post. Just don’t consider this blog post as your ultimate destination for writing gigs. And you know what it takes to get there? Be an expert in at least one topic! Now, go get paid to blog!

Finding More Freelance Blogging Gigs

Wondering how to find more freelance blogging gigs? Okay, before that let me give you a word of caution about the above mentioned blogs, websites, and magazines. There is every possibility that ALL the above mentioned websites are already getting a ton of guest post requests. Why? Because they are inviting everyone. So, be first or be smarter.
Becoming first is obviously going to be difficult. But you can definitely become smarter. Anyways, if you want to become one of the first to apply for a writing gig then try the following blogging job boards:
Again, all these job boards are also flooded with pitches by freelance bloggers. In fact, ProBlogger gets 100+ applicants in just few days. So, make sure that you are doing it the right way or you won’t even get a response for your pitch/application.

Want Even More? Google Search!

That’s right! You can easily find new writing gigs with few Google searches. You only have to filter the search results with some advanced operators and I will show you how.
Just in case if you haven’t noticed, most of the above websites uses a page called “Write for Us” to invite blog posts from their readers and guest authors. So, it means that you can easily find such sites by doing an advanced Google search.
Here’s a sample query:
Google Advanced Search
Google Search: How To Find Freelance Blogging Gigs
The above Google search query finds web pages whose title has the phrase “Write for Us” in it. Only the above highlighted fields are essential. You can also do this query directly on Google search by using the search operator: allintitle.
Here are few sample search queries that you can Google directly on Google.com.
  • allintitle: write for us
  • allintitle: “write for us”
  • allintitle: write for us and get paid
Also, you can even find freelance/guest blogging opportunities from your country or can further narrow your search results by using additional filters.
Here’s another sample query that narrowed the search results even further:

You can then go through the search results and pitch relevant blogs by using the criteria that I have set to come up with the above list.
13 Things To Remember Before You Even Think of Applying:
  1. Do not apply to each and every website that is listed here. Your applications are reviewed by real people, so apply only if it’s relevant, and do respect their time.
  2. You dont have to be a native English speaker to contribute a blog post to any of the above blogs. But you must be passionate about the topic and must possess outstanding writing skills (especially if you are pitching a high authority blog).
  3. You can show your skills by including a link to a sample blog post that you have written. Just make sure that it’s related to the theme of the blog that you are pitching.
  4. An active blog and an active social media presence (especially Twitter and LinkedIn) is always appreciated.
  5. You can also make a real connection with one of the authors or editors of the blog (via email or social media) in a genuine way so that you can eventually pitch them in a friendly way.
  6. None of the above websites are for beginners — that is, for those who have never written a blog post before. If you are new to freelance writing then check out The Freelance Writer’s Handbook.
  7. It may take several days (if not weeks) to get your articles published on a top blog as most of them are flooded with queries and requests. If you didn’t get a reply, say in a week or even in a month, then it probably means that they are either not interested or you didn’t match their expectations (it’s okay to follow-up but at least wait a week or two).
  8. Finally, do not send the exact pitch to all websites (even if they are in the same industry). Instead, send a custom one to each website and make it short and simple.
